Breaking News : Yoga class this Saturday morning, Oct 23, with Joan Hart !!!

Sunrise, Mid-morning, and Sunset Yoga :

These classes are taught by Jeff (unless he is out of town, in that case, the classes continue with a remarkable replacement !). The classes consist of an eclectic blend of the best elements of an infinite number (x 11) of yoga traditions and styles. To name a few of those styles : Hatha (traditional), Vinyasa (flow), Kundalini (inward focus), Sivananda (classic), and Viniyoga (adaptable). These styles are combined with more modern developments infused with Jeff’s intuition (third eye, Ajna chakra) to create what is most beneficial and joyful at any given moment in class. Classes explore a variety of asanas (postures), movements, pranayama (breathing techniques), mudras (hand positions), sound, and meditation. The only requirement for attendance is a healthy funny bone.

Gentle/Therapeutic Yoga :

This Gentle/Therapeutic class is a mix of gentle yoga postures, breath work & meditation. The practice of Iyengar yoga is in itself a therapeutic practice. Bairbre often works with acupressure points & ear seed acupuncture points to solidify the practice. This Yoga class is tailor made to suit the needs of the participants. Suitable for anyone who wishes to slow down their yoga practice or for those who have physical limitations.
Limited Class number to provide essential attention & adjustments.

Restorative Yoga :

Restorative Yoga, pranayama/breathing, meditation techniques & visualizations. Restorative Yoga is a regenerative healing method that reduces stress through the use of supported yoga postures, breathing, guided meditation, and healing sounds. Learn to access deep relaxation and calm the nervous system, supporting overall health, mental and physical well-being.

Pregnancy Yoga :

The class combines gentle movement with breath awareness for overall health and well-being during pregnancy. Yoga during pregnancy is a great way to relax, release tension, gain strength, and to connect with your body, your breath and your baby. It can help ease the discomforts of pregnancy and prepare you physically and mentally for the birth of your baby. The focus of the class is to nurture women and promote wellness during pregnancy and into motherhood.

The class also provides an opportunity to meet other mums to be and share experiences at this unique time of life in a welcoming and supportive environment.

The class is suitable for mums to be 14+ weeks into pregnancy and until the day baby arrives! It is suitable for all levels of yoga experience and for all bodies. Many women try yoga for the first time during pregnancy, and it often leads to a lifetime practice! Yoga is completely non-competitive and I invite students to listen to their bodies and to respond to their own bodies’ needs and capabilities.

The Autumn Series :

Led by Amy Russell. The Autumn Series of classes (six) is based in the tradition of Kundalini Yoga & Kundalini Global. The course is designed to profoundly nurture, bring balance, and heal. Connecting to our Core :

Led by Joan Hart. Being aware of and connecting to our core – physically, emotionally, spiritually – is key to our sense of well-being. When we feel distracted, under pressure or challenged in our physical, emotional, or spiritual bodies, learning how to return to our core helps to centre us, tune into our natural wisdom, and find courage. These sessions explore how we can become more aware of and awaken our core through breath awareness, somatic and yoga movement. We will explore:

• our breath and energy flow and how they invite us into our bodies and sensations

• somatic movements to awaken and strengthen the functions of our core

• movement from various yoga traditions – hatha, tantra, vinyasa – to experience our bodies mindfully and to let them teach us !!

These sessions are for anyone who is interested in exploring their own sense of connection and how to inhabit our bodies with more awareness.

Taichi and Qigong :

Led by Rónan McLoughlin. Tàijí (Taichi) 太極 and Qìgōng 氣功, have been practiced in China for thousands of years and are slow motion moving meditations for good health, a sense of peace, a centered mind, and connection to one’s deeper nature.

Align, relax, release, feel, flow. Allow these powerful moving meditation practices to reintegrate, strengthen and restore body and mind. By harmonizing mind, body, breath and feeling we move towards wholeness. All levels welcome. In the face of the infinite we are all always beginners.

These classes are in the tradition of the Taichi Tao system, as passed down by Grandmaster Waysun Liao. A Qigong and Neigong based Taichi system, Master Liao teaches his practice principles using the powerful single form style or “dan tsou” style practice. This style breaks down each movement of the long form into smaller motions that can be practiced repetitively. These smaller motions are easier to refine, and allow one to relax and focus on what’s important in order to penetrate into the deeper meditative aspects of the practice.

Pilates :

Pilates is an exercise method which helps to elongate and strengthen muscles, with the aim of restoring the body’s balance. The Pilates instructor’s thorough understanding of the body’s muscular and skeletal systems enables her to create a comprehensive exercise program for her client. Classes focus on specific areas and muscle groups individually and in sequence in order to integrate the whole body, re-educating and restoring it to optimum muscular and skeletal function.

This holistic approach sets Pilates apart from many other forms of exercise. Osteopaths, physiotherapists and general practitioners recommend Pilates as one of the safest forms of exercise today. Pilates can be beneficial for just about everyone, regardless of age and fitness level.

Pilates consists of a repertoire of over 500 exercises which can be performed on the mat or on the equipment designed by Joseph Pilates. The exercises are organized into levels of difficulty from basic beginner to advanced and the grading is according to the degrees of core strength and flexibility. Specifically the Pilates method works to strengthen the core, lengthen the spine, increase body awareness, build muscle tone and gain flexibility.

Acupuncture & Yoga Workshops :

These workshops are themed, an example is: “Working into the hips to remove emotional blockages”. The workshops are a blend of Acupuncture, Yoga postures, Breath work, sound & voice work to help us flow through life with more ease. Bairbre has reduced the amount of people in these Workshops to provide more individual attention.
